What is the Edge? Where is the Edge, I hear you ask? Just when mere mortals have their head around the concept of IOT and IOE, cloud computing and ‘fibre to the node’, we need to understand the Edge.
As marketing is inextricably linked to the Internet, technology and content, the Edge and what’s happening at it, is relevant to you.
“Edge computing allows data produced by internet of things (IoT) devices to be processed closer to where it is created instead of sending it across long routes to data centers or clouds.” Read more here.
I’m just back from the Edge Summit and NAB Show in New York where everything related to content production, delivery, consumption, measurement and monetisation were explored in great detail. (Pardon me if I begin speak in acronyms….)
In the US, conferences, industry exhibitions and education events with world leaders presenting on such things are prolific, but Australia’s isolation makes competing with and keeping up with this body of knowledge, a significant challenge.
Over the coming weeks I’ll share some of the insights I gained from the presentations and demonstrations to save you the resources of time and money it took to get this up to the moment education.
But I will begin by saying this: That marketing, technology and content are all linked is unavoidable. So if you’re not up to speed on what’s happening with VPN’s, CDN’s, CMSs’, the central advertising currency, content address-ability, micro moments and auto magic and then some, tune in to my upcoming posts for some very useful – and convenient insights!
